At Sandfield Park Private Day Nursery Ltd we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Guidance 2017.
Throughout the nursery emphasis is given to learning through play following the Early Years Foundation Stage, in which the children are cared for in a stimulating environment with opportunities to develop across the seven areas of learning. The children can enjoy a varied and interesting day with the many facilities we have on offer.
The 3 Prime areas of learning are:-
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development;
- Physical Development; and
- Communication and Language
“The three Prime areas are crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive”. (EYFS, 2017, p.7)
The 4 Specific areas of learning are:-
- Understanding the World; and,
- Expressive arts and design.
Key Person System
We operate a key person system throughout the whole nursery and each child who starts with us is designated a key person who will build up a strong bond with your child getting to know them really well. They will plan activities to meet your child’s individual needs and carefully observe your child’s development to ensure they are reaching their developmental goals.
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
Although our aim is to ensure that all children reach their full potential and achieve all of their early learning goals, sometimes children need a little extra support in some areas to do this. To this end we have our own in-house SEND/Cos (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators) who are Claire Gould and Hayley Scotton. If your child’s key person has a concern they will initially speak to you and thereafter Claire or Hayley will in turn observe your child during their play and should they have any concerns, they will discuss this with you thereafter making a joint decision as to how best to support your child.
Meals and Nutrition
Our in-house cook provides a diverse menu of balanced and nutritious home cooked meals which we believe encourages healthy eating habits.
We work alongside parents/carers to ensure the meals meet individual dietary requirements including specific food allergies and specific dietary requirements.
At Sandfield Park we offer drama lessons to our 2-3 year old children on a Tuesday afternoon through the Petite Acting Academy, Spanish lessons to our pre-school aged children on a Friday morning with Miss Lynn from Passport Language Solutions and BSL Sign Language lessons on either a Monday or Tuesday with Miss Farmer from Signing Angels Ltd. These lessons are provided at no extra cost to you and meet all areas of learning in the EYFS.
At Sandfield Park we do not provide a babysitting service outside of our normal operating hours. However, we understand that parents sometimes ask nursery staff to babysit for their children. Should this be the case, this is a private arrangement between staff and parents.
The nursery is not responsible for any private arrangements or agreements that are made, this is between the staff member and family, however we do expect staff members to inform us if they are babysitting or caring for a child that attends the nursery outside of the setting. We require the staff member and parent to sign a copy of our Babysitting policy which we will keep on file for the child and staff member.
